When can you call it vlogging.

[edit]

I asked ChatGPT if you can call it vlogging if it happened before blogging was invented, and here’s what it said:

People cannot accurately say they were “video blogging” before the invention of blogging because the term blogging itself originates from the late 1990s, evolving from “web log.” Blogging, as a concept, is tied to the internet and the practice of regularly updating a website with written or multimedia content.

However, if someone was regularly recording and sharing video updates before the term existed, they could describe their activity in other ways, such as keeping a video journal, documenting experiences on video, or creating video diaries. The terminology might not have been there, but the practice of recording and sharing personal experiences existed long before the digital age.

Once blogging and vlogging (video blogging) became established terms, people could retroactively apply them to past practices, but it wouldn’t have been the contemporary way to describe those activities. Stevegarfield (talk) 16:28, 8 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
